About

Mystica is a music-theatre ritual by MOVEDBYMATTER and Muziektheater Transparant, directed by Kasper Vandenberghe, where circus and choral music converge. Floating hairhangers and polyphonic singers co-create a spiritual microcosm, set to grounding bass lines by Jens Bouttery and woven together by Timo Tembuyser’s musical direction. The piece searches for a lost mystical undercurrent in our present—not as escapism, but as a vivid, collective experience centered on togetherness. Through an enchanting rite, performers relearn a common language that connects body, breath, and voice. The work bridges historical mysticism and contemporary stagecraft, inviting audiences into a shared space of resonance and connection.
