Requiem

This two-part concert at the Opéra de Toulon pairs Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 “Unfinished” with Mozart’s Requiem. The first half highlights Schubert’s landmark of Romantic orchestral writing; the second presents Mozart’s final masterpiece, left incomplete at his death in 1791 and finished by Franz Xaver Süssmayr. The event is part of the centenary commemorations of the 1918 Armistice. Jurjen Hempel conducts the Orchestra and Chorus of the Opéra de Toulon, joined by guest choirs, in a concert performance that foregrounds choral and orchestral power.
