PASSACAGLIA was the fourth concert in ERSO’s CONCERTO series during the orchestra’s 85th anniversary season. Curated under guest conductor Daniel Raiskin, the program explored thematic and spiritual links across eras, connecting J. S. Bach’s legacy with contemporary Baltic voices and culminating in Sibelius’s romantic first symphony. The first half traced Bach’s influence through Vasks’s dedication to Pärt and Pärt’s own Bach-inspired works, concluding with Stokowski’s grand orchestral transcription of Bach’s Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor. The concert title, PASSACAGLIA, signposted the structural and stylistic anchor of the evening’s first half.
