San Diego City College's production of Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses is an ambitious staging directed by Lisa Berger. The defining feature is a complex set built around a large pool of water constructed on the Saville Theatre stage. The environmental staging creates a literal splash zone where both actors and audience interact with water. The design team—Duane Gardella (scenic), Elisa Benzoni (costumes), and Rob Norberg (lighting)—engineered practical solutions for safety, warmth, cleanliness, and durable costumes.
