CORE MEU (new version) is a dance production by Jean-Christophe Maillot for Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo. Its movement language connects pointe technique with the tarantella and places the work in the cultural landscape of Italy's Apulia region and the Mediterranean. The production uses an ensemble of fifty dancers and live musical participation by Antonio Castrignano and Taranta Sounds. The choreography links formal ballet movement with the popular and ritual origins of dance, alternating sensual passages with physically intense sequences and culminating in a Dionysian finale.
