Pastoral pairs Beethoven’s vividly descriptive Symphony No. 6 with a new Portuguese work, placing the classical canon alongside contemporary creation. Rather than painting a literal rural scene, the concert explores how music awakens inner feelings—idyllic, humorous, tragic, and epic. The program opens with the world premiere of Tiago Derriça’s first Piano Concerto, commissioned by the Centro Cultural de Belém to be framed by Beethoven’s symphony, inviting audiences to discover the concerto impulses of a living composer. Co-produced by the Centro Cultural de Belém and Metropolitana, the event highlights dialogue between tradition and the present.
