This Spanish-language staging of Sam Holcroft’s Cucaracha is adapted and produced by Javier Amann and directed by Julián Fuentes Reta. The production blends metaphor and realism, recalling Samuel Beckett and Caryl Churchill in its theatricality and boundary-breaking. The action unfolds entirely in a school classroom, using the enclosed space as a microcosm of a society under siege. Direction frames it as a “punk tragedy in a classroom where normality no longer protects anyone.” Biological concepts on the blackboard—survival, adaptation, selection—serve both as the academic lesson and as a metaphor for the characters’ predicament. The cast features seven performers, including Hiba Abouk, Esther Acebo, and Julio Peña, alongside Lucía Diez, Miriam Queba, Nakarey, and Javier Amann.
