MASSENZIO 2035 is a long-term performance and dissemination project devoted to the complete works of Domenico Massenzio, a composer from Ronciglione (1586–1657). Presented through STRADELLA Y-PROJECT, the project has an educational purpose: bringing young singers and instrumentalists closer to Baroque music and to the work of Alessandro Stradella. The 2023 AVE MARIS STELLA program presents Massenzio’s sacred settings as an imagined journey around Mary and her different aspects, moving from majesty and motherhood through the Nativity and grief toward musical catharsis and glorification. The documented forces comprise five vocal parts, three viola da gamba players, violone, theorbo, baroque guitar and organ. The five-voice tutti alternates with one- or two-voice passages. Andrea De Carlo is credited for direction. The project is presented as a concert itinerary in churches across five Lazio cities rather than as a theatrical staging.
