Gamelan

The gamelan is a collective instrument widely practiced in Indonesia. Originating from the island of Java, it is played by everyone, hence its contagious power, which often brings forth dance and other arts, such as shadow theatre. It is thought to be very ancient, and legend has it that it was created by a deity. In this workshop, we will play pieces from the traditional Javanese repertoire, in a vibrant communion of creativity and sharing.
