This was planned as a chamber vocal recital for soprano Véronique Gens and the piano quintet i Giardini. The Palazzetto Bru Zane description places a string quartet and piano around the singer, using chamber-music forces to expand the French mélodie beyond a standard piano accompaniment. The program moves through four night-related atmospheres: twilight and love, dreams and elsewhere, nightmare and anxiety, and festive intoxication. The arrangements were credited to Alexandre Dratwicki of the Palazzetto Bru Zane. The production was intended to inaugurate the festival's renewed partnership with the Louvre Auditorium, but the 2020 festival and this performance were cancelled. It should therefore be recorded as a cancelled concert production rather than as a performed staging.
