Out of the Blue is an acclaimed dance work by choreographer Anouk van Dijk, created in collaboration with Skånes Dansteater, the Malmo Opera Orchestra, and the Malmo Opera Children’s Choir. The production is framed as a wondrous journey inspired by humanity’s timeless urge to find meaning and community, inviting the audience into an abstract blue world. Moving between ritual and the everyday, the dancers navigate a landscape dense with symbolism. Van Dijk’s distinctive movement language probes themes of origins and human togetherness. Theun Mosk’s scenography and Jessica Helbach’s costumes heighten a dreamlike yet tactile atmosphere that shapes the stage picture throughout.
