Les Trois Brigands

The Alsatian cartoonist Tomi Ungerer has enchanted generations of children with his children's albums, sold by the thousands all over the world. Fascinated by his fantastical work, the Opéra national du Rhin commissioned the composer Didier Puntos for a new chamber opera set in the world of one of his flagship titles, Les Trois Brigands (1961). Also drawing on Ungerer's other works and life, its libretto takes the form of a tale full of mischief, told by a funny narrator, and which unfolds on stage like an animated book. A show co-signed by Gilles Rico and Jean-Philippe Guilois, performed with enthusiasm by the young artists of the Opéra Studio and the Haute école des arts du Rhin (HEAR), to be discovered during the regional tour of our “Opéra Flying ".
