Americana is a curated concert within the Sacrum Profanum 2025 festival that traces a three-part journey through American minimalism and post-minimalism. Part 1 is devoted to Philip Glass, featuring Wichita Vortex Sutra, Metamorphosis, and an ensemble rendition of Facades. Part 2 highlights the pop-culture-charged language of Michael Daugherty with Sing, sing: J. Edgar Hoover and a quartet performance of Elvis Everywhere, followed by Laurie Anderson’s Hiawatha in an ensemble version. The program culminates with Steve Reich’s Pulitzer-winning Double Sextet performed by ensemble. The Italian contemporary music ensemble Sentieri Selvaggi shapes the evening’s changing instrumentations—from quartet textures to full ensemble sonorities—within the modern setting of the Małopolska Garden of Arts in Krakow.
