About

“shift” is a textile–acoustic exhibition and vernissage linked to the Quartiersdialog Andräviertel and Salzburg’s World Heritage context. It is a collaboration between Studium Gestaltung: Technik.Textil and the Studio für Elektronische Musik at Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, with the Textiles Zentrum Haslach and the City of Salzburg as partners. The creative process starts from microscopic images of Mozart-era textiles, which are enlarged into abstract textures and woven as objects on a digital Jacquard loom. The loom’s operation is also recorded as a sound source; these recordings feed electroacoustic pieces that mirror and respond to the visual patterns through association and rhythm. The opening credits include speeches by Frauke von Jaruntowski and Susanne Mayer, organ performance by Stephan Pollhammer, video production by Feikind, and textile production support and development by Textiles Zentrum Haslach.
