Words and Music

Presented within the Staatsoper Unter den Linden’s LINDEN 21 series, Words and Music was conceived as a live “sound staging” that extends the radio-play format into the concert hall. The evening paired Pedro García-Velásquez’s 2010 Cras Lucebit with the 1987 radio play collaboration by Morton Feldman and Samuel Beckett. Under the musical direction of Maxime Pascal, the production explored the theatrical interplay of music, language, and space, supported by specialized sound projection (Florent Derex) and computer sound design (Augustin Muller). Voice actors Christian Brückner and Klaus Christian Schreiber anchored the performance, which took place in the Apollosaal of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
