Framed as an “aperitiefconcert” (aperitif concert), this compact, approximately one-hour program presents a vivid journey through the 18th-century Sturm und Drang aesthetic, known for its bold contrasts and intense expressivity. Maestro Francesco Corti returns to lead a chamber configuration of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen’s orchestra, pairing fiery instrumental works with emotionally charged opera arias to explore the era’s turbulent sound world. The concert highlights the dramatic range of the period with music by J. C. Bach, Gluck, Haydn, Traetta, and Mozart, and concludes with time for audiences to reflect and socialize in the theater foyer.
