Christopher Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland premiered in London in 2011 as an explosion of color, stage magic, and choreographic invention. As the Royal Ballet’s first full-evening work in nearly 20 years, it became an instant hit—the musical among contemporary ballets. Joby Talbot’s score blends contemporary sound worlds with melodies reminiscent of 19th‑century classical ballet—witty, brisk, and irresistibly danceable. Bob Crowley’s exuberantly imaginative sets, costumes, puppetry, and projections bring Wonderland vividly to life. With around 150 roles to cast, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland mobilizes the entire Bavarian State Ballet ensemble alongside members of Bavarian Junior Ballet Munich and students of the Ballet Academy at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.
