The Notebook is a new musical adaptation of the best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks, which also inspired the 2004 film. The production features music and lyrics by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson and a book by Bekah Brunstetter. The staging is directed by Michael Greif and Schele Williams, with choreography by Katie Spelman. The production focuses on the lifelong love story of Allie and Noah, who come from different worlds but remain connected despite various obstacles over several decades. The musical emphasizes the emotional core of the source material through a contemporary folk-pop score. The creative team includes veterans of major Broadway hits such as Dear Evan Hansen and The Wiz.
