Cape Town Opera presented this Easter sacred-music concert centered on Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, complemented by selected works from Mozart and Franck as well as Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine. The event brought together Cape Town Opera soloists, the Cape Town Opera Chorus, a Children’s Chorus and the Symphony Choir of Cape Town, with orchestral accompaniment under conductor Gary Matthewman. It was conceived as a concert rather than a staged production, focusing on liturgical and contemplative repertoire appropriate to the Easter season.
