This is a new staged production by the Opéra de Saint-Étienne, co-produced with the Palazzetto Bru Zane. It presents Auguste Mermet's rare French grand opera within the French Romantic tradition, with large-scale scenes and a historical subject. Jean-Romain Vesperini directs, Bruno de Lavenère designs the sets and costumes, and Christophe Chaupin designs the lighting. Hervé Niquet conducts the Orchestre Symphonique Saint-Étienne Loire and the Choeur Lyrique Saint-Étienne Loire. The production uses the Choudens edition.
