Schütz’s selections range from contemplative to joyful, mirroring Handel’s dramatic to lyrical span. Keys and textures alternate intimate solo motets—O JESU, Nome Dolce (SWV 308)—with the more polyphonic concertante style—CANTABO DOMINO (SWV 260). The program is complemented by instrumental repertoire by Rosenmüller and the aria “Wherever I walk” from Handel’s opera Semele. You will also hear H. I. F. Biber’s Violin Sonata No. 2 in D minor.
