PATARAG – Music and Reading for Armenia was conceived as a commemorative concert and reading on April 24, 2015, marking the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the deportations that nearly led to the annihilation of the Armenian people. The program paid special tribute to the earliest victims, including intellectuals such as the Armenian national poet Daniel Varoujan. The artistic concept combined spoken word with live music, bringing together traditional Armenian colors—represented by the duduk and violin—with Western classical timbres from the Lamento-Ensemble (baroque violin, violone, clarinet, and accordion). The vocal forces featured a baritone soloist alongside the singers of the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin and the men and boy soloists of the Staats- und Domchor Berlin, creating a multi-layered memorial in sound and text.
