This concert performance of Alessandro Scarlatti’s Penelope la casta was presented at the 2010 Rheingau Musik Festival in the historic Basilica of Kloster Eberbach. Led by conductor Wolfgang Katschner with the Lautten Compagney Berlin, the event revived a rarely heard 17th‑century opera in a resonant sacred space well-suited to baroque sonorities. Framed as one of the first modern concert presentations of this work, the performance highlighted the festival’s dedication to rediscovering and sharing baroque masterpieces with contemporary audiences.
