Stabat mater

A concert performance of Rossini’s sacred masterpiece Stabat Mater served as the closing concert of the 2005 Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. Conducted by Rossini specialist Alberto Zedda, the evening highlighted the work’s emotional depth and dramatic tension without staging. The Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the Prague Chamber Choir performed with a quartet of young, emerging soloists: soprano Elizaveta Martirosyan, mezzo-soprano Marianna Pizzolato, tenor Francesco Meli, and bass Ugo Guagliardo.
