This production formed part of the 1889–1890 season at the Grand Théâtre de Tours. Le serment de madame Grégoire is a one-act opérette by Robert Planquette, the composer of Les Cloches de Corneville. Typical of late-19th-century French operetta, it features light, comic plotting and lyrical, tuneful numbers. The libretto is by Louis Péricaud and Lucien Delormel.
