Le baiser à la porte is a salon operetta composed in 1864 by Charles Lecocq, presented here in a short two-character version. The story follows Robin, a penniless young lawyer, and his wife Fanny. Fanny finds him a client, Tourville, for a separation case, but Robin is also approached by Madame Tourville to defend her, creating a conflict of interest. This sparks a domestic quarrel between Fanny and Robin, who themselves are on the verge of a breakup. Ironically, when the Tourvilles arrive to consult their lawyer, they reconcile with a passionate kiss at their door.
