Presented within the Russian Film Festival at Bard SummerScape 2004 (Shostakovich and His World), this event screened Grigory Kozintsev’s 1969 film adaptation of King Lear, featuring Dmitri Shostakovich’s final film score. Festival materials hailed it as one of the finest Shakespeare adaptations on screen. Shot in black and white in Lithuania, the film stars Jüri Järvet in the title role. The screening series was presented in collaboration with Seagull Films.
