The dramatic story of the Dogheads (Psohlavci), based on one of the most famous works by Alois Jirásek, is brought to life on the operatic stage. Experienced operatic composer and conductor Karel Kovařovic successfully adapted the story in 1897, creating a work that defeated both Fibich and Foerster in a competition for a new Czech opera. The piece quickly spread across Czech opera stages and gained immense popularity among the general public. After more than half a century, this jewel of Czech operatic creation returns to the Plzeň stage. The production depicts one of the most famous historical stories of the region. The staging is directed and designed by Martin Otava, with musical preparation by Jiří Štrunc. The production is a large-scale ensemble piece featuring the DJKT Opera Chorus, Orchestra, Ballet, and guest members from the Storm Ballet.
