The outstanding Civil Service Choir has had to wait three years to perform the Dvořák Mass in D major in the Easter Festival. The choir’s concert in 2020 was cancelled owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, just a few weeks before the performance. Written in 1887, the Mass, Op. 86, is meditative in character – perfect for Holy Week – with harmonic richness and folksong-like melodies. The Civil Service Choir has been performing in St John’s Smith Square for ten years and has delighted audiences every time with wide range of repertoire. This concert is free but the tickets must be booked in advance (for no cost). There will be a charity collection in the hall.
