About the Concert In 450 BC the Greek philosopher Empedocles proposed the four elements as fire, earth, air and water. This concert presents these classical elements in musical form, beginning with Jean-Féry Rebel’s unsettling Chaos from his Les Élémens suite and concluding with Debussy’s magical triptych La Mer. We are delighted to present the first performance of Air, a new commission by David Gordon and jazz saxophonist Tim Whitehead featuring students from Warwick Schools Foundation in a special collaboration.
