Hotel Savoy

The production is a stage adaptation of Joseph Roth's expressionist novel Hotel Savoy. Jakob Weiss and Nina Steinhilber prepared the stage version; Weiss directs and designs the set. The dramaturgical focus is individual experience during a broad social crisis, including confusion, alienation, waiting, loneliness, hope, and radicalism. The staging uses rhythmic sequences, changing moods, social contrasts, visual formations, meaningful pauses, a large red set, opulent costumes by Elena Gaus, and sound created by Weiss from atmospheric and electronic music combined with classical elements.
