In the 2026/27 season, The Town Musicians of Bremen is presented as a puppetry premiere within the Young State Theatre program at Staatstheater Meiningen. Staged in the intimate Rautenkranz venue (around 80 seats), it targets young audiences with figure and puppet performance, offering school matinees at 10:00 and weekend family shows at 15:00. The running time is about 60 minutes. The musical basis is Gisbert Näther’s children’s/family-concert piece after the Brothers Grimm tale. At Meiningen the music has previously appeared as the “3rd Children’s & Family Concert” with the Meininger Hofkapelle; in 26/27 it is realized as a puppetry staging. Set and puppet construction are created with the apprentices of the Schnitzschule Empfertshausen/Rhön. The premiere is scheduled for 12 September 2026 (15:00), with additional morning and afternoon performances through 23 January 2027.
