Conceived and directed by Knut Winkmann, the cult “Ranzlichter” trilogy about the aging schlager singer Guido, featuring singer Steffen Kubach and musician/arranger Jens Ketelsen, enjoyed cult status in Lübeck over the last nine seasons. With Lapskaos, the trio boldly leaves their North German comfort zone, heading across the Baltic—there’s no turning back now. This time they bring aboard singer Imke Looft, who, as seen in the recent Theater Lübeck evening “Liebe geht durch den Magen” created with director Effi Méndez, shares a feel for quirky musical formats. The production blends musical elements from a wide range of genres and forms, and, with its framing story, cheerfully skirts the edge of slapstick.
