Il Suonar Parlante and director-violist Vittorio Ghielmi frame Alessandro Scarlatti’s Stabat Mater (in selection) between Francesco Durante’s Concerto in G minor for strings and Arvo Pärt’s luminous 1985 Stabat Mater for soprano, alto, tenor, and three solo strings. The vocal team—soprano Graciela Gibelli, alto Carlos Mena, and tenor Zacharie Fogal—joins a continuo group with organ, harpsichord, lute, violone, and viola da gamba. Period instruments and historically informed style meet Pärt’s tintinnabuli austerity, revealing the timeless resonance of the Marian lament. The acoustic of the Church of Saints Ambrogio and Theodulus in Stresa underlines the meditative arc of the evening.
