The material exists both as a play and as a novel by Martin Baltscheit. Jürgen Decke’s staging takes both as its starting point, with the novel assuming a leading role as the work progressed. The piece tells the story of a profound identity crisis that ultimately opens the door to forging one’s own path. It explores the subjective truths of different perspectives and the insight that identity is always a matter of dialogue and relationship. Dominik Vogl’s musical realization uses a special instrumentation that enables a wealth of tones in a wide array of colors. A female and a male voice (soprano and bass-baritone) directly embody the principal characters. This contemporary music-theatre for young audiences involved all musicians and singers in the creation of the work.
