Merregnon: Land of Silence is a symphonic fairy tale created for families and children, conceived as a modern “Peter and the Wolf” for the PlayStation generation. Developed by German producer Thomas Böcker, the film introduces audiences to the color and wonder of the symphony orchestra through vivid melodies and hand-painted imagery. Originally scheduled as a live concert with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in March 2021, it was reimagined during the pandemic as a specially produced 45-minute concert film. Composer Yoko Shimomura’s lyrical, video game-influenced score is arranged by Jonne Valtonen, with a story by Frauke Angel, and performed under the baton of Andreas Hanson. The artistic vision explores courage, perseverance, solidarity, and freedom, presented in a format accessible to new listeners. Merregnon: Land of Silence premiered globally via Konserthuset Play on September 10, 2021, with subtitles available in English, German, French, Japanese, and Swedish.
