Because let's face it, four piano concertos for keys and wind instruments in one evening, you don't experience that every day. “A sound that grinds and one that strums, they don't fit together”, Igor Stravinski judged about the golden combination of strings and piano. “Hammering and blowing sounds, on the other hand, go wonderfully together.” His jazz-spiced concerto is the perfect fit for brand new work by young composers Bram Van Camp and Daan Janssens. Concerto number four comes from Karel Goeyvaerts, who gave his mix of keys and valves the appropriate title Avontuur (1958).
