Drumming is Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s 1998 choreography built around Steve Reich’s seminal percussion score of the same name. For the Lisbon engagement at São Luiz Teatro Municipal, the music was performed live by Ictus under the musical direction of Georges‑Elie Octors. The piece evolves from a single rhythmic impulse into layered constellations of time, space, and movement, mirroring the score’s four-part structure and shifting instrumentation. Jan Versweyveld designed the set and lighting, with costumes by Dries Van Noten. Presented within the São Luiz context Lisboa, Cidade de Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, this revival brought Rosas’ signature precision and accumulative patterning into sharp focus, binding dance and live sound into one pulsating organism.
