Anna Hunter, The Spirit of Savannah is a comedic ghost opera by composer Michael Ching, commissioned and premiered by the Savannah VOICE Festival. It tells the story of Anna Colquitt Hunter, a real Savannah preservation leader, through an immersive, site-specific staging in the Davenport House Museum. Audiences follow the action through multiple rooms as history, humor, and memory intertwine. A young guide-in-training, Louise, encounters the spirited Anna, who reveals how Savannah’s preservation movement took shape. The work blends theatrical storytelling with local heritage, culminating in a love aria to the city itself.
