NEW PRODUCTION Presented with the Garonne theater In 1627, Heinrich Schütz, the "German Monteverdi", composed a pastoral to a libretto by the great Baroque poet Martin Opitz, based on Ovid's Metamorphoses : the nymph Daphne only escaped Apollo's assiduousness by transforming in laurel. The fire in the Dresden library destroyed Schütz's score forever. But the Austrian composer Wolfgang Mitterer, seduced by the preserved libretto, imagined with Geoffroy Jourdain and Aurélien Bory a madrigalesque opera in which the choir would be the hero and the electronics the basso continuo. Everything in this fascinating work – music, poetry, staging – is placed under the sign of metamorphosis.
