"Sing everyone! Let's be happy! Yoo, yo, yo! Long live the wine!" blares the chorus in Joseph Haydn's "The Seasons". The fact that the composer struggled with his only secular oratorio is not apparent from the work, which is as great as it is popular. It not only celebrates the grape juice, with Haydn imitating the hurdy-gurdy, fiddle and bagpipes in the orchestra, but also all sorts of other events of the year, cast in many onomatopoeic, immediately understandable sounds in the sense of Rousseau's slogan "Back to nature!" Together with Ivor Bolton on the podium and selected soloists, this promises to be an unforgettable musical experience.
