Night of the Ravens is an opera commissioned from one of Poland’s leading contemporary composers, Zygmunt Krauze. The libretto, by Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk, is based on Adam Mickiewicz’s Ballads and Romances and Forefathers’ Eve. The work gathers figures from the ballads summoned by the Guślarz (conjurer), weaving themes of love and death together with tango motifs. This production offers a contemporary interpretation of a classic of Polish literature, translating Mickiewicz’s Romantic visions into a modern operatic form. The staging emphasizes physical movement and visual plasticity, supported by acclaimed collaborators in set and lighting design.
