This production of Upload was presented as a Dutch Premiere during the opening months of the Dutch National Opera & Ballet's 2021/2022 season. The season was characterized by a focus on renewal, innovation, and flexible programming in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with an emphasis on exploring the urgency of opera and addressing current events and social issues. Seating for this production was unplaced and without 1.5-meter distancing, in accordance with government guidelines at the time.
