For many years, Manos Tsangaris has been one of the leading representatives of a new type of music theater that is characterized by a variety of dispositions and forms. His works constantly oscillate between opera, installation, composed performance and music-theatrical miniature. The exploration of the compositional material is not limited to working with sounds, but seeks the connections between different media, which include movement, body, space and light as well as music and text. In this new work, which is being created for the New Workshop of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Manos Tsangaris will deal with the phenomenology of music theater in the sense of basic artistic research: The focus is no more - but also no less - than the theater space itself, laying bare its means Abstract pieces of movement, sound and light take place, gradually unfolding the stories hidden beneath the surface of two figures undergoing change with and in this space.
