A concert performance of Domènech Terradellas’s opera seria Merope, the work that marked the Italian breakthrough of the Catalan composer during the 1744 carnival season in Livorno. Terradellas, an important voice of the emerging stile galante, died at 38 under mysterious circumstances but left a distinctive legacy. The performance is led by conductor Francesco Corti with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, and features a baroque-specialist cast with Emőke Baráth in the title role. An introduction to the work is offered 30 minutes before the performance.
