La Statira, a three-act dramma per musica from 1726 with a libretto by Apostolo Zeno and Pietro Pariati, is presented in a new transcription by Franco Rossi and marks the work’s first modern performance. Directed by Francesco Bellotto with sets by Alessia Colosso, costumes by Carlos Tieppo, and lighting by Fabio Barettin, the production highlights Albinoni’s mature artistry. The artistic leads, Francesco Erle and Bellotto, point to a harmonic evolution that blends Venetian tradition with innovative ideas. They emphasize the striking violin writing and bold, expressive orchestration, which deepen both the theatrical pulse of the libretto and the psychological nuance of the characters. Visually, the staging seeks to embody the dualism between the virtuous Statira and the deceitful Barsina through symmetrical stagecraft, stylized wooden outlines, and granite-toned palettes.
