Je Suis Narcissiste is a contemporary comic opera that satirizes society’s fixation on self-image and the relentless amplification of the ego, especially in digital spaces. Through sharp, black humor, it exposes the absurdities of narcissistic culture and how vanity can obscure original intentions. Director Marta Pazos shapes a vividly colorful, highly visual staging that underscores themes of superficiality and self-aggrandizement. Scenic design by Fernando Ribeiro, costumes and characterization by Pier Paolo Álvaro, and lighting by Nuno Meira combine to create a cohesive, immersive world. Musically, the show features a compact ensemble from Simfònica Càmera Musicae under the baton of Vinicius Kattah. The four-artist cast and chamber forces focus the action and sharpen the satire, keeping the critique incisive yet accessible.
