Romeo and Juliet

This Mariinsky production of Sergei Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet is choreographed by Leonid Lavrovsky, with sets and costumes by Pyotr Williams. Lavrovsky uses expressive dance-pantomime, gesture and mime to drive the narrative. Williams's Renaissance-inspired visual design includes a Verona square with a dome modeled on Florence's Santa Maria del Fiore and costumes evoking Botticelli and Cranach the Elder. Lighting for the Mariinsky-2 presentation was adapted by Andrei Ponizovsky and Yegor Kartashov.
