The Tempest

This production of The Tempest was mounted by Great Lakes Theater for their 2021 season. The performance was specifically designated as a sign-interpreted event to provide accessibility for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community in Northeast Ohio. The staging took place on the Parker Hannifin Stage at Playhouse Square's Hanna Theatre in Cleveland. A dedicated team of three primary ASL interpreters, along with an understudy, translated Shakespeare’s complex dialogue and theatrical nuances into American Sign Language. The initiative was promoted through HeArd, an organization that highlights sign-interpreted theater in the region.
