To commemorate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, the Hungarian State Opera House presented operas based on his works. In addition to the known ones, rarities were also performed. To present Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari's play Sly, composed about ninety years ago, the Budapest Opera invited the Szeged National Theater, the premiere was a great success at the Erkel Theater in May 2016. The work is based on the foreplay of The Witty Lady, who was mostly neglected in stage performances, and the story of Awakened Sleeper, which is also included in the Tales of a Thousand and One Nights. Chistopher Sly, the popular pub singer, relaxes in an inn and then, as a joke by Count Westmoreland, wakes up in the aristocratic castle, where everyone celebrates that he, the lord of the house, has recovered from his decades-old coma. Sly and the mistress of the house fall in love - the Count's joke is too good.
